ESG Approach

The ESG approach

DICO Group’s sustainability journey began with a major industrial transformation launched in 2016 by Andi-Mec, a group company specializing in precision mechanics.

The plant transformation involved investments in real estate, technology, and organization, with the aim of improving integration between production and business processes.

A central role in this journey was played by the standardization of procedures and the introduction of ICT tools, in particular the MES (Manufacturing Execution System), which enabled more structured management of production data and greater information sharing with customers.

Data-Driven Factory

Thanks to this model, DICO Group and Andi-Mec embarked on the path toward a Data-Driven Factory, an approach that laid the groundwork for further environmental development.

In line with the digitalization and decarbonization goals promoted by the PNRR, a research project was launched to measure the Carbon Footprint of the mechanical parts produced.

The method developed makes it possible to analyze the entire production cycle by considering four main parameters: energy consumption, waste generation, transport, and packaging.

The system enables the calculation of CO₂ emissions associated with machining operations, tracking them throughout all phases of the production process.

The project

The project was carried out in collaboration with the University of Bologna and Turtle, a university spin-off. The use of Vivace software made it possible to validate the adopted measurement model, confirming its reliability.

This data-driven approach paves the way for a sustainability-oriented production model based on measurable and shareable data, and supports the group’s customers in making manufacturing decisions tied to increasingly conscious and responsible processes.
